Overview

Wellspring Studio is a full-time online K-12 school that provides engaging and supportive live instruction.

Wellspring Studio is for families that desire a rigorous virtual academic program aligned to New York State Standards while drawing powerful connections to Islamic beliefs, morals, and values.
Students can complete their high school requirements and graduate in three years, instead of the traditional four.

Instructional Model

Wellspring Studio’s online instruction focuses on engagement that allows students to interact with and respond to their content in purposeful ways.  Teachers implement various strategies that enhance students’ motivation to learn. As such, teachers promote strategies to help students pay attention and remain energized, intrigued, and inspired.  Students are actively encouraged to develop critical thinking skills and creativity.

Wellspring Studio teachers work with students and their parents to instruct, review assignments, and customize curriculum and instruction.  Differentiated and targeted support is provided for all students including full-time Hifz students.

Wellspring Studio students are eligible to participate in local, state, and national assessments.  Most assessments can be taken virtually. Students will participate in NWEA- MAPs, NYS grades 3-8 ELA, math, science, social studies assessments, as well as NY State High School Regent Exams for those who live in NY State.

Extracurricular Activities

Wellspring Studio students who live locally have the ability to participate in Wellspring’s field trips, special events, graduation, and after school programs for additional opportunities that promote socialization, wellness, and extracurricular activities.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why did you decide to start Wellspring Studio?

There is a growing need in the Islamic community for an accredited online Islamic school that is flexible, virtual, and can provide students with an accredited high school diploma upon completion.

  • Is Wellspring Studio accredited?

Yes, Wellspring Studio has full accreditation through Cognia. Wellspring Studio is also a fully registered and an approved diploma-granting high school through the New York State Education Department.

  • Will my child be on a computer screen the majority of the day?

Although live teaching takes place, many activities include offline activities such as reading and writing, conducting research, and answering questions to help deepen their understanding of the content.

  • How do you ensure fidelity in test taking? What security measures do you implement?

For certain assessments, a lock-down browser is utilized.  This portal ensures that students cannot deviate from the test screen during an assessment.  Students are mandated to turn on their cameras during assessments which displays if any other person is in the room with the student. An online proctoring software that monitors students is also utilized.

  • Are the courses 100% online?

Yes, all coursework is entirely online.

  • Will there be online clubs or extracurricular offerings?

Yes, there are opportunities for students to engage in online clubs and/or extracurricular activities such as art, technology, and social emotional learning.

  • Are there opportunities for students to take Advanced Placement and dual enrollment high school courses?

The immediate goal is for students to graduate from high school within three years.  As a result, unless a student is transferring in with a significant amount of high school credits prior to enrollment, there would be limited opportunities for students to enroll in Advanced Placement and dual enrollment courses.  In individual circumstances, students would be able to take advanced courses through a third-party partner with Wellspring.

  • What are the expectations for family involvement?

Wellspring Studio parents are expected to take an active role in the education of their child as well as the online school community.  This includes ensuring that your child attends all of their online classes, completes and submits activities and assignments, and performs well on their assessments.  Parents should regularly review their child’s progress and grades to ensure they are on the path to successfully complete and pass all of their courses. Families are also expected to attend orientation sessions and teacher meetings when student progress is addressed.
